Cut
The cut is a combination of Shape and Proportions. The quality of the cut, or the “make” as it is often called in the diamond industry, determines how light entering the stone will react and how much light return will be obtained, and thus how much fire, scintillation and brilliance will come into view. The shape describes the general outline of the stone, for example round brilliant, princess cut, pear shape, oval etc. Good proportions give better light reflection in the diamond and thus contribute to its beauty.
